Summer Meals Grant Opportunity

Nourishing Neighbors (formerly known as Hunger Is), an initiative of the Albertsons Companies Foundation, has established a fund to help local families impacted by the current crisis. This new opportunity is specifically aimed at increasing participation in, and access to, the Summer Meals Programs this summer. Intermediary organizations, sponsors, and schools can apply for funding.

Programs eligible for funding can include (but are not limited to):

·        Transportation

·        Food purchasing

·        Connections/Marketing/Outreach

·        Temporary Hires to make up for lack of volunteers

·        Capacity

·        Technical Assistance

o   Equipment, PPE, and packaging

Application Due Date

June 22nd by 11:59 Pacific Time

Time Terms

Focused on summer meals, but recognizing the need for flexibility, the grant term is through December 31, 2020

Geographic Restrictions

Applications will only be considered for organizations working in areas with Albertsons Companies stores. See list below for states with stores.

Other Eligibility

Organizations must be a 501c3 designated charitable organization or a K-12 school


Application Process

The grant application invitation can be found here. Once you are logged in, you will be asked “If you are requesting a grant from the COVID-19 fund”? Please make sure to click ‘yes’. Select FRAC from the drop-down available in this section: “Please provide the name of the organization that nominated you for funding.”

The states with stores include: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wyoming.
