2020 Annual Conference

The School Nutrition Association of Connecticut invites you to submit proposals for presentation consideration at our 2020 Annual Conference at Mystic Marriott on October 2-3, 2020.The SNACT Annual Conference offers several workshops and education sessions each day in an effort to meet our members training and development needs.

SNACT is committed to aiding our State’s school nutrition professionals by providing practical solutions to school nutrition challenges, opportunities to improve current knowledge and develop new skills.

Target Audience

Friday Sessions are structured for Directors and Business Managers.

Saturday has two learning tracks, one designed for Directors and Business Managers and a second for School Nutrition Staff. 


Submit digitally or via email to by January 17, 2020


Presentation can be 45, 60 or 90 minutes in length. 

Topics must be current and relevant to one of the 4 key areas of learning under USDA Professional Standards

  • Key Area 1: Nutrition

  • Key Area 2: Operations

  • Key Area 3: Administration

  • Key Area 4: Communications and Marketing

Presentations must be interactive and engaging

The Program Chairs are specifically interested in receiving session proposals on the following topics, but all submissions will be considered:

  • Merchandising School Meals: Design and Culinary Approaches

  • Financial Challenges 

  • Advanced Leadership Training: Leading, not managing

  • Build the Team while Training: Team Building & Staff Training

  • Better for our Students: Being the Best at Customer Service

  • Self-Care & Wellness: Managing Stress and being your best self for our Students

  • Increasing Productivity

  • Time Management

  • Creating Effective Presentations

  • Creating a Motivating Environment for Students and Staff

  • Trends in Food Service & Alternative Feeding Approaches: Food Trucks, BIC, Self Service

  • Grant Writing- Finding the Funds and Getting them!

  • Manager Workshop: Using Tried and True Techniques to Managing Staff

  • Keys to Successful Financial Management

  • How to identify equipment in a capital improvement plan

  • Identifying and Empowering leaders within your staff

  • Strategic planning for maintenance of equipment 

Program Selections

Please be aware that SNACT does not normally pay for educational session speakers. We are a non-profit volunteer organization committed to the education and training of our members. If you require payment or have a sponsor for your program, please note that in the comments section at the end of the submission form. These will be reviewed on a case by case basis, and are for extremely limited applications. Thank you for your understanding.

Presentations are NOT to be used as a sales or promotional platform for any speaker’s company, products, or services. SNACT reserves the right to halt speakers from this practice if the situation arises during their presentation.

Presenters do not need to be SNACT members but priority will be given to SNACT members.
